Description

PURPOSE OF JOB:

Provide effective instructional and organizational leadership to school faculty, staff, and students in all areas and in the development and implementation of school improvement activities.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Organizes, directs, monitors and evaluates the total school program.
  2. Organizes, directs, monitors and evaluates school improvement plans in which teachers, community members, parents and business leaders work cooperatively to develop goals and objectives for the school consistent with district goals.
  3. Monitor the implementation of curriculum and instruction; identifies needed improvements to progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  4. Recruit, retain, evaluate, coach and provide comprehensive job embedded professional development.
  5. Utilizes data to determine staffing needs and development of a comprehensive master plan.
  6. Provides a variety of instructional programs aligned with the district strategic plan and correlates with student assessment results.
  7. Sets high standards of conduct and achievement and supervises monitoring of all facets of school life to ensure that all persons make progress toward meeting these standards.
  8. Creates and fosters a culture of high expectations for staff and students.
  9. Provides professional development designed to assist staff in accomplishing school and district goals.
  10. Directs and supervises the business operations of the school including budget, requisitions and accounting.
  11. Collaborates with all stakeholders regarding school district goals, policies and activities, reports of students’ progress, and other pertinent information.
  12. Guides family and community engagement activities and organizations.
  13. Attends and participates in all required meetings and professional development activities.
  14. Performs any or all Medicaid Administrative Case Management duties.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Yes                                                                           

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3 years successful teaching experience with middle to late adolescent children preferred
  • Any Missouri Teacher certification (1-6) or (7-12) in any subject at any grade level

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Montessori experience and/or training Education Specialist and/or Doctorate Degree in Elementary School Administration. Experience in curriculum articulation, development, and coordination.
  • Experience as a building administrator.
  • Experience in development and implementation of special and/or unique educational programs.
  • Administrative experience in urban elementary schools.

This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, lift objects of at least ten pounds.  Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of work year: 12 month calendar; 8hrs/day; 5 days/week

KCPS Defined Benefit Pension plan – mandatory 9% contribution is required from employee; Voluntary retirement savings plans are also available.
