PURPOSE OF JOB: 

Performs duties related to the support and continual development of the Arts program/theme at Paseo including core curriculum development, quality assessment; recruitment, coordination of events and staff development.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Weekly meetings with the Arts Departments with documentation:
• Formal sign-in sheets.
• Agendas
• Minutes and updated calendar of each department.

• Weekly informal walkthrough visits of Arts classes with documentation reflecting:
• Task instruction and engagement of students.
• Arts implemented with fidelity.
• Effective project-based instruction.
• Oversee the Audition Process (in collaboration with administrative team and office personnel).
• Connect with all elementary schools/principals to recruit and establish programs/feeder systems to support the arts and pathways in preparing students to audition at Paseo Academy.
• Establish Community Connections at the local, state, and national levels to support the Arts at Paseo Academy
• Schedule and oversee all site-based events (with assistance from teachers and administrative team).
• Work directly with the principal in identifying Artists in Residence to support Arts Majors (when necessary).
• Research and connect with the Kansas City arts community to establish internships, job-shadowing opportunities, on-the-job training opportunities, and local university arts programs for students.
• Research philanthropic and grant opportunities to support the Arts at Paseo Academy.
• Plan and demonstrate model lessons for individuals and groups of teachers.
• Identify, acquire and distribute resources to support core Performing Arts curriculum.
• Offer staff development on content knowledge and delivery.
• Offer staff development on the maintenance of curriculum related equipment for the Arts’ department.
• Coordinate and oversee specific projects such as competitions, exhibitions and special events.
• Participate in the process of selecting instructional materials and development of curriculum related assessments.
• Support the integration of technology within the Performing Arts classrooms.
• Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's Degree in content-related area.
• Hold or be eligible for Missouri teacher certification.
• Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Arts emphasis teaching experience.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Length of work year: 12 months   7.5 hours per day/ 5 days per week; 260 work days
