PURPOSE OF JOB:  Provides total immersion education and core language instruction.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. 

 

  1. Teaches core subjects to students in a world language. 
  2. Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
  3. Prepares, administers and corrects tests; records results.
  4. Assigns lessons, corrects papers, and hears oral presentation.
  5. Maintains order in the classroom.
  6. Keeps attendance and grade records as required by the school.
  7. Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.
  8. Discusses pupils’ academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents.
  9. Assist with the development and implementation of 2nd Language teaching curriculum.
  10. Attends on-going training and professional development to maintain success of program.
  11. Learns current teaching strategies and procedures to assure success of the world language program.
  12. Adheres to all district policies and procedures that pertain to KCPS teacher employees.
  13. Assists World Language Resource teacher as needed.
  14. Speaks English and Swahili (Kiswahili) fluently.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

NOTE:  Possessing a language certification is not sufficient

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Length of work year:  205 days
