PURPOSE OF JOB:  The Café Manager is responsible for Café operational management of The Cardinal Cafe.  The Café Manager will also ensure high standards of food handling, customer service and effective use of resources to enhance the culinary environment for students, visitors and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervise and direct the work of assigned personnel
2. Prepare and sell convenient food for patrons
3. Provide feedback on student participation/work as needed to ensure Café / Culinary arts goals are achieved
4. Perform task to open the café area. Arrive at least 1 hour prior to opening
5. Clean and maintain café area at all times in order to ensure the cafe area and all appliances are washed and clean for the next shift as needed
6. Complete nightly inventory and revenue reports
7. Serve customers in a friendly, professional manner
8. Promote dishes as needed to encourage patron participation and feedback as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Three (3) years prior food service experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Current food handler’s permit
• Food handler license
• Knowledge of inventory and procurement process
• Basic math and writing skills
