Description

 

PURPOSE OF JOB:  To teach and develop effective programming for Elementary students with Autism Spectrum  Disorder (ASD) using research based practices to increase academic, communication, motor, and social skills.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Develop and implement programming for students with ASD
  2. Maintain programming notebooks
  3. Develop and implement IEPs
  4. Collect data and use data to drive instructional practices
  5. Implement assistive technology and communication devices effectively
  6. Utilize visual supports and schedules
  7. Engage students in meaningful instructional activities using research based best practices
  8. Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans
  9. Work cooperatively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to implement programming
  10. Attend professional development on effective instructional practices for students with ASD and implement skills effectively within the classroom setting

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None

                                                                                               

                                                                                               

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university
  • Missouri State Teacher Certification in Special Education (K-12)
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience and/or training in research based best practices in developing and implementing programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders

This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, lift objects of at least ten pounds.  Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Length of work year:  10 month calendar
