PURPOSE OF JOB:

Responsible for providing instruction in the area of Automotive Technology

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and execute lesson plans that lead toward student achievement of competencies in the area of Automotive Technology.
  2. Develop and update, as needed, the curriculum for the Automotive Technology program.
  3. Prepare orders for the purchase of supplies, tools, equipment, and instructional materials necessary to support the learning activities of the Automotive Technology program.
  4. Maintain inventory and repair records, and ensure the safe and proper operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  5. Maintain an Advisory Board and keep records of meeting notices, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes.
  6. Remain informed of new trends, methods, materials, tools, and equipment in Automotive Technology.
  7. Actively participate in all professional development activities as required by the School District of Kansas City, Missouri.
  8. Integrate Career & Technical Student Organization (C.T.S.O.) leadership activities into the Automotive Technology program.
  9. Perform willingly, other duties as assigned by the Coordinator/Director.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Career Education Certification in the area of Trade and Industrial Education/Automotive.
  2. Provide documentation and verification of a minimum of three (3) years or (6,000) hours of direct occupational experience in Automotive Technology within the most recent ten years. A Baccalaureate Degree or Associates Degree from an accredited institution with a major in  Automotive Technology may be considered as meeting one year or (2,000) hours of the employment requirement.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. Teaching experience in an urban setting
