PURPOSE OF JOB: Remediate and prepare students for successfully complete all requirements of the Middle College program.
|
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide core academic instruction utilizing various instructional delivery methods and strategies such as technology assisted instruction, individualized and small group activities.
- Assist in the development of level appropriate, research-based curriculum techniques to ensure student progress.
- Must have knowledge of content standards needed to develop lesson plans in relationship to the Missouri Option program and student progression toward graduation.
- Administer proper program admission assessment based on expectations from the local, state and federal governing agencies.
- Develop and implement an individualized plan of instruction for each student and prepare students to demonstrate measurable progress on each post assessment.
- Conduct regular and as scheduled by Kansas City Public Schools, conferences with students and, if available, parents/guardians to convey progress and or address behavioral concerns.
- Maintain student progress and attendance records for submission to the ELO Office as requested and in accordance with grant requirements.
- Demonstrate evidence of ability to impart knowledge through documentable student growth and progress. Collect and compile information to prepare periodic weekly and monthly reports as required by the Director.
- Establish well-organized, attractive and relaxed classroom atmospheres in a print rich environment. Maintain up-to-date curriculum materials and provide to all instructional staff.
- Occasionally, invite speakers that can discuss relevant issues with students.
- Submit Recruitment and Retention plans to the Director annually or as requested.
- Collaborate with MCC staff.
- Collaborate with FEC staff.
- Attend in-service and faculty meetings.
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Previous alternative education classroom teaching experience
Desire to see students succeed and meet goals
Ability to work as a team with other instructors and staff

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of work year: 12-Month; 7.5 Hours
