PURPOSE OF JOB: To teach and develop effective programming for Elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) using research based practices to increase academic, communication, motor, and social skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and implement programming for students with ASD
- Maintain programming notebooks
- Develop and implement IEPs
- Collect data and use data to drive instructional practices
- Implement assistive technology and communication devices effectively
- Utilize visual supports and schedules
- Engage students in meaningful instructional activities using research based best practices
- Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans
- Work cooperatively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to implement programming
- Attend professional development on effective instructional practices for students with ASD and implement skills effectively within the classroom setting
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university
- Missouri State Teacher Certification in Special Education (K-12)
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience and/or training in research based best practices in developing and implementing programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Length of work year: 10 month calendar
