PURPOSE OF JOB
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in preserving ground by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Confers with Grounds Supervisor to plan and review work projects.

Determines work priority and assigns workers to specific tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, seeding, fertilizing, irrigating and raking of turf grass.

Directs and assists workers engaged in operation of various types of equipment and motor vehicles to include, but not limited to light/medium weight tractors, crew trucks and trailers, power mowers, seeders, verticutters, spreaders, saws, edgers, blowers, sprayers, and gas shears as well as hand tools.

Keep campus grounds, walks and drives clean by removing trash, garbage and other debris.
Assist in snow removal as needed.

Assist in the training of Landscaper and Grounds person employees by instructing them in the methods and use of material and equipment.

Assists workers to perform more critical duties.

Maintains time records.

Performs activities of workers supervised.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Knowledge and experience in horticultural practices related to turf, trees, shrubs, ground covers and flowers.

Mechanical ability and knowledge.

Valid commercial operators license.
