PURPOSE OF JOB: Manages the foodservice program in a secondary school according to district’s policies, procedures, and methods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and direction in operation of the school cafeteria.
- Provide leadership and training in the professional development of cafeteria personnel.
- Provide leadership in maintaining good working relationships within the cafeteria.
- Cooperate with school administrator, teachers and staff in management of cafeteria operations and
promote Child Nutrition program educational values.
- Plan student cafeteria activities cooperatively with Child Nutrition Services staff, school administrator and school staff to assure interaction with students.
- Follow Child Nutrition Services menus and directives in preparing school meals.
- Plan food choices and ale carte selection (within established guidelines) for daily service.
- Direct and assist in preparation and service of food.
- Order appropriate food, supplies and equipment in correct quantities for cafeteria as scheduled.
- Received and check all deliveries to the school cafeteria.
- Organize and plan work schedules for cafeteria personnel.
- Plan and adjust staff as required.
- Keep attendance records and prepare payroll certifications and reports as required.
- Assume responsibility for accurate preparation of reports, invoices and statements which must be submitted as scheduled.
- Assume responsibility for timely, efficient and accurate accounting and reporting of cash receipts.
- Take inventory at regular intervals.
- Direct and/or assist with cafeteria cleaning duties.
- Budget resources (time, labor, and materials) used in cafeteria operations.
- Do periodic evaluations of unit operation, service and personnel.
- Make decisions relating to operation of the school cafeteria.
- Participate in In-Service Training programs are required and recommended.
- Other duties assigned by the Director of Child Nutrition Services.
- Follow Federal laws. School Board policies and Child Nutrition Services directives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent with a working knowledge of mathematics.
- Knowledge, training and experience in institutional or quantity cooking.
- Documented training and experience in managing a food service operation.
- Experience in training, supervision and evaluating food service personnel.
- Experience in ordering and storing foods and supplies.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Elementary business and bookkeeping skills.
- Good disposition, dependable, cooperative.
- Ability to organize and work harmoniously under pressure.
- Ability to exercise good judgment.
- Good health and neat appearance.
- Job requires stooping, bending, walking and standing most of the work day.
- Job requires lifting and handling institutional equipment, pots, packages and cases containing food and supplies.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of work year: 8/16/2023 - 5/29/2024 8 hours per day/ 5 days per week; 204 work days
