PURPOSE OF JOB:
Teaches one or more subjects under the PLTW program to students by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers subject specific assessments, district and/or state tests for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations and student achievement; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
- Analyes test data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement and increasing school improvement goals.
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration and/or seeking the assistance of district specialists.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
- Counsels students for improving performance, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
- Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments (e.g.language arts, mathematics, science, history, etc.) for providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
- Differentiates classroom work and integrates district initiatives for providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
- Directs paraprofessionals, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
- Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.
- Manages student behavior for providing a safe and caring environment throughout all facets of the school program and to provide for an optimal learning environment.
- Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, campus grounds, field trips, clubs, athletic/activity events, graduation, dances, etc.) for providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. staff, department, faculty, conference periods, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, lesson plans, progress reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in job-related area.
- Missouri Teacher’s Certificate w/appropriate endorsement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Math or Science teaching certificate.
- Teaching experience in PLTW.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of work year: 8 hours per day; 5 days/week; 205 work days
