PURPOSE OF JOB:

To provide daily administrative oversight of Global Academy programming, which provides intensive English Language Development (ELD), academic, and behavioral support to newly arriving refugee, immigrant, and/or newcomer families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Management

  1. Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  2. Demonstrate effective supervisory skills.
  3. Establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders.
  4. Maintain effective, appropriate communication and documentation with all KCPS staff.
  5. Collaborate with various stakeholders including but not limited to LSCE and neighborhood schools to identify students and ensure appropriate placement and transition procedures.
  6. Develops and implements new and innovative ideas for improving the delivery of student education programs in conjunction with LSCE.
  7. Advise and assist teachers with classroom management and resolution of interpersonal relations and conflicts between student/student and teacher/student.
  8. Provide leadership in developing a positive school climate and harmonious multicultural, multiethnic educational environment.
  9. Observe and monitor the implementation of curriculum and best practices through regular walkthroughs, observations, coaching, and evaluation.
  10. Monitor and support staff effectiveness through observations, team meetings and facilitate the formal evaluation process in accordance with KCPS policies and procedures.

Professional Development/Curriculum

  1. Lead data disaggregation and analysis for program improvement to meet program goals and objectives.
  2. Serve as instructional leader through leading PLCs, faculty meetings, etc.
  3. Lead and develop ELD curriculum units, benchmarks, and assessments.
  4. Provide professional learning activities designed to assist staff in accomplishing program objectives.

 

Program Implementation

  1. Maintain student and staff safety protocols.
  2. Develop daily programming and master schedules.
  3. Partner with LSCE, district departments, neighborhood schools, and community partners to create, identify, and implement interventions and behavior plans.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: YES

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree

Current Missouri ESOL certification

Hold or be eligible for Missouri Certification in elementary teaching.

Hold or be eligible for Missouri Certification in elementary school administration.

Three to five (5) years of teaching experience or related teaching experiences applicable to this position.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in remediation of student adjustment and discipline needs for English language learners Knowledgeable of conflict resolution models.

Knowledgeable and experienced in curriculum planning and effective instructional practices for (Students with Interrupted Formal Education (SIFE), refugee, immigrant, and newcomer students.

Three to five (5) years of school administrative experience.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of work year:  260 days; 7.5hrs/day, 5 days/week
