PURPOSE OF JOB: To motivate each pupil to develop competencies, knowledge and skills in comprehending, speaking, reading and writing a foreign language, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; to interpret to pupils the culture of the countries where the foreign language is spoken; to discover and develop special talents of pupils in foreign language communication.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develops pupil’s skills and knowledge of a foreign language (French 1 – 3), utilizing course of study adopted by the district, and other appropriate learning tools. Modern foreign language teachers teach aural comprehension, speaking, reading and writing.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Provides learning experiences which develop the basic communication skills, utilizing electronics and other equipment as appropriate.
- Develops pupil understanding and appreciation of culture of countries where the studied language is spoken.
- Evaluates each pupil’s progress in aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and the foreign language in relationship to the level being taught.
- Selects and requisitions books, instruction aids and supplies; maintains required inventory records.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree
- Hold or be eligible for Missouri teaching certificate in the subject area French K-12
- Demonstrated fluency of the foreign language
