PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for assisting the KCPS leadership team, in the development and execution of human resource (HR) staffing plans. Performs professional level HR work and carries out responsibilities in several functional areas of HR. Provides professional level support to workforce staffing, talent acquisition, training and development, insight culture assessment and compensation administration. Supports and advises school leaders and department managers on various HR issues. May assist in coordination of HR specialist resources needed for implementation of HR programs for assigned area. Works under minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Enters new hire information into the system ensuring accurate information is in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for new hires.
- Enters changes related to pay and status for current employees to ensure accurate employee records within the HRIS
- Supports documentation processes for employees such as life event changes, updating records, filing, and tracking issues as needed
- Respond to general basic inquiries ensuring a high level of customer service
- Assist with events such as but not limited to: Service Awards and Retiree programs
- May provide support for recruiting during high volume periods
- May assist with basic Job Description maintenance
- Assist in the administration of various human resources functions according to district policy and procedures, State and Federal rules and regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
- Identify, research, and coordinate the resolution of issues and concerns related to human resources operations, policies and procedures.
- Communicate with the public, prospective employees, district administrators and other employees regarding complex and technical human resources matters.
- Coordinate, monitor and document employment processes while complying with all district, State and Federal regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
- Provide technical expertise and support to district administrators and other employees on the interpretation of district human resources policy and procedures, State and Federal rules and regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
- Respond to written and verbal inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources to resolve problems, provide information, identify relevant issues and/or refer to appropriate staff.
- Operate a microcomputer and business related software, including work processing, spreadsheets and database management; input, edit, review, verify and extract data from human resources systems/databases.
- Maintain manual and electronic documents, files and records.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field
3-5 Years experience supporting a Human Resources department
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Broad basic knowledge of all functional areas in HR. Good understanding of HR programs, policies and procedures. Good understanding of employment law. Strong multi-tasking skills Good leadership ability (team building, coaching, mentoring, change management, advising) Strong problem solving skills (identify, analyze, research, evaluate, resolve) Excellent conflict management and human relations (written, verbal, client service) skills

Length of work year: 12 months
