PURPOSE OF JOBTo work to assist the school administrator and staff with daily behavioral referrals and special challenges that students and families face to be successful in school. Monitor the implementation of the school wide referral process and procedures, assuring they are administered consistently and properly support students.  

 

The Recovery Room Specialist serves to provide behavior intervention strategies and support in the classroom and in small group settings for identified students to self-regulate in order to minimize disruption to the learning environment. In addition, this role supports students and families as they enroll in school, need wrap around services, and transition at the end of each year.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Meet with families enrolling for school to ascertain any needed support for success.

  2. Counsel with students at risk and students referred for behavior.

  3. Monitor and determine interventions for students with severe behavioral issues.

  4. Coordinate case supervision and student interventions for all students referred.

  5. Provide monthly referral reports to school administrators and other stakeholders.

  6. Monitor the effectiveness of the behavior management techniques and behavior plans being utilized. 

  7. Work with school administrators to review the academic success or deficiencies of the students working to meet academic goals and how the student’s behavior affects those goals.

  8. Conduct home visits to address student behavior and academics with parents.

  9. Provide Individual and Group Training of Student Support Services Behavior Modification Techniques & Skills.

  10. Conduct Conflict Mediations amongst students involved in antagonistically based interactions.

  11. Collect/document/write data, related reports, and child records for the purpose of ongoing behavior intervention service planning, and review

  12. Communicate with children, family members, school staff, and agency personnel for the purpose of sharing information pertaining to applied behavioral strategies, interventions and necessary wrap around services.

  13. Collaborate with agencies, families, schools, and others as needed for the purpose of implementing the behavior and academic intervention plan as a team.

  14. Confer/Interact with program specialists for the purpose of completing appropriate assessments, documentation, and activities related to behavior intervention plans.

  15. Coordinate/Maintain a productive daily schedule for the purpose of completing reports, instructional activities and other duties.

  16. Track outcomes for sharing knowledge and skills for delivering best practices

  17. Receive referrals and background information for the purpose of conducting assessments and implementing appropriate behavior intervention plans. Coordinate case supervision and student interventions for all students referred.

  18. Collaborate with PBIS team in designing and assuring implantation of behavior plans for the three tiers of students, including  before and after-school triage, goals setting, problem solving, and conflict resolutions skills.

  19. Serve as school liaison to parents concerning behavioral concerns in school and on the bus.

  20. Document and recommend recognition for student successes.

  21. Participate in a variety of meetings, committees, and workshops as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of behavioral support and intervention.

  22. Assist with redirecting and de-escalating crisis behaviors.

  23. Be active participants with the building wide culture and climate implementation of PBIS.

  24. Other duties as assigned.

This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds.  Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

 

Employees must have accessible transportation to do home visits and attend agency meetings to coordinate wrap around services.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of work year: 12 Month 7.5/Hours
