PURPOSE OF JOB:  Provided leadership for the school’s entire athletic program through the ongoing development, implementation and improvement of specific sport coached.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Coordinate specific      sport with a full team in compliance with MSHSAA standards;

 

  1. Assist in      implementing athletic standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and      attend all
    1. MSHSAA required       sessions;

 

  1. Assist in the      coordination of the program;

 

  1. Assist in the supervision      of students at practices and contests;

 

  1. Help provide      information for transportation, facilities, officials and game management;

 

  1. Help organize and      schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the objective of      developing the student-athlete’s greatest potential;

 

  1. Emphasize safety      precautions and be aware of the best training and injury management      procedures;

 

  1. Conduct team and      self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, always      exemplifying the  highest standards      of sportsmanship;

 

  1. Assist in getting      the systematic return of all school equipment in accordance with the KCMSD      Athletic Department Handbook;

 

  1. Continue      professional growth through clinics and professional publications;

 

  1. Must successfully complete      the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses;

 

  1. Must fulfill 8 contact hours of professional development.:
    1. District level mtgs –4hrs;
    2. School level mtgs - 3hrs;
    3. Outside mtgs/Clinics –1hr
