PURPOSE OF JOB: Facilitate the provision of effective specialized instruction and full compliance with state and federal requirements for special education including the identification and placement of students with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with district personnel and others for the purpose of implementing and maintaining IEP services and/or programs.
- Support case managers of special education students to ensure IEP compliance. This would include, but is not limited to the following:
- Attend eligibility meetings
- Write IEP’s
- Facilitate IEP meetings
- Collaborate with staff on progress and complete progress monitoring in the IEP
- Create Behavior Intervention Plans
- Facilitate collection of data and assist in data analysis for the purpose of program evaluation and planning.
- Serve as Local Education Agency representative as needed in the IEP and other decision-making meetings regarding special education for individual students.
- Monitor and promote compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education ACT (IDEA) regulations, the Missouri Plan for Special Education, and the Local Compliance Plan.
- Collaborate with colleagues outside of special education to ensure seamless support for students with disabilities, and clear communication between staff members.
- Use technology effectively to manage documentation requirements.
- Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
- Comply with all district rules, regulations and policies.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in job-related area
- Missouri certification in Special Education
- Documented knowledge of Special Education process
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 5 years of special education teaching experience is preferred
